"Sustainability
Functionality
and Service"
Values, that are
important to us!
Why we do,
What we do
Handfest was founded with the belief that the climbing sport needs to become more sustainable. As climbers, we understand the demands of the industry – from intensive use in route setting to training on system walls. At the same time, we recognize the responsibility we have towards the environment. Our goal is to establish wood as a sustainable alternative in the climbing world, creating functional products while making a positive impact on the entire industry.
Integrity
Sustainability and quality go hand in hand for us. We believe it is possible to create durable and well-designed products that also preserve natural resources. Our holds are not just functional; they are designed to inspire – route setters, climbers, and gym owners. We focus on transparency and genuine partnerships with the climbing community to develop the best solutions together.
design + sustainability
Our wooden holds are more than just tools for climbing. They combine thoughtful design with ecological responsibility. Made from sustainable wood, they are durable, washable, and versatile. We emphasize a natural feel and appealing aesthetics that win over both route setters and climbers. At the same time, the longevity and functionality of our holds ensure they can handle the intense daily use in commercial route setting without issue.
With Handfest, we aim to prove that high-quality products and sustainable practices are inseparable – for a climbing industry that responsibly looks toward the future!

Wooden Climbing Holds
Innovation for a sustainable future
The project is developing a sustainable production method for wooden climbing holds. Building on an existing product, the aim is to improve grip and color options while establishing a circular upcycling system. Investments in machinery, personnel, and sales will expand production and extend the market to Germany and Switzerland. The goal is to make the climbing industry more sustainable, strengthen regional value creation, and create jobs with flexible working conditions.
The expected outcomes are a market-ready, durable product, a stronger regional economy, and a contribution to an environmentally friendly future for the climbing and bouldering industry. This project is supported by the LEADER funding program, which enables the sustainable development and market launch of this innovative production process.
